Booking policy

Booking a place is simple: pick a date, pay online, turn up. This page covers the bits in between, including what happens if your plans change or ours do.

What this covers

This policy applies to every workshop and event booked through www.piasplace.co.uk or in the shop at Pia’s Place, 114 High Street, King’s Lynn, Norfolk PE30 1DD. By booking a place you agree to it. It sits alongside our terms of use, and nothing in it takes away your rights as a consumer.

Booking and paying

  1. Places are booked on the workshop's page, by card, through our secure checkout. For workshops over £5 you pay a £5 deposit per person online and the rest on the day; workshops of £5 or less are paid in full when you book. Your place is confirmed once you receive the confirmation email. Online booking closes one hour before each session starts; after that, pop into the shop and ask.
  2. Prices are per person and include everything listed on the workshop page, which is usually all materials and refreshments. Anything extra, for example pottery pieces at a painting session, is said on the page and paid for on the day.
  3. Each session has a set number of places. When they are gone, the page says so. We do not run a waiting list at the moment, but you are welcome to ask and we will tell you if a place frees up.
  4. Free events still need a booking so we know how many to expect.

Deposits

Every workshop over £5 takes a £5 non-refundable deposit per person when you book, to reserve your spot. The workshop page shows the full price and the deposit. The rest is paid on the day at Pia’s. Workshops of £5 or less are paid in full online. The deposit is only refunded if we or the host cancel the session (see If we have to cancel).

If you can't make it

  1. 48 hours or more before the start: email us and we will move you to another date of the same workshop if there is one. Deposits are non-refundable; if you paid in full for a workshop of £5 or less, we will refund you in full.
  2. Less than 48 hours before, or not turning up: we cannot refund, because materials have been bought and the host has been booked for you. You are very welcome to send someone in your place; just tell us their name.
  3. Refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually show within five to ten working days.

To cancel or move a booking, email piaplum@yahoo.com with your name and the workshop date, or use the link in your confirmation email.

If we have to cancel

Occasionally a session has to be cancelled or moved, for example if the host is ill or too few people have booked for it to run. If that happens we will email everyone booked as soon as we know, and you can choose a full refund or a place on another date. We are not able to cover other costs such as travel.

On the day

  1. Please arrive about ten minutes before the start so we can get you settled with a drink. Sessions start on time.
  2. Wear something you do not mind getting paint, clay or ink on. Aprons are provided where they are needed.
  3. If you arrive late we will do our best to catch you up, but we cannot extend the session or refund missed time.
  4. Finished pieces that need drying, firing or setting will be ready for collection from the shop on the date the host gives you. We will keep them for three months.

Ages

Workshops are for adults (18 and over) unless the page says otherwise. Sessions marked as family-friendly welcome children with an adult who stays for the whole session; the adult makes the booking and is responsible for the child throughout. At bring-your-own-bottle events only those aged 18 or over may drink alcohol, and we may ask for ID.

Food, drink and allergies

Hot drinks and cake are part of most sessions. If you have an allergy, an intolerance or an access need, tell us when you book or email us before the day and we will do what we can. We handle nuts, gluten and dairy in the café, so we cannot guarantee any item is free of them. Some workshop materials, for example polymer clay, leather dyes and printing inks, can irritate sensitive skin; the host will tell you what you will be using.

Photos

We sometimes take photos during workshops for our website and social media. If you would rather not be in them, just say so on the day and we will make sure you are not. Photos of your own work are yours to share.

Looking after each other

Our workshops are relaxed, friendly and for everyone. We ask that you treat the host, the staff and the other guests with kindness. We reserve the right to ask anyone whose behaviour is making others uncomfortable, or who is unsafe with tools or materials, to leave, without a refund.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version on this page is the current one; a booking is covered by the version in force on the day it was made.
